Study-related information
- Parts of the final state examination and its contentThe state final examination in the study programme Multimedia Creation in the master's follow-up degree consists of the following parts:
- public performance or exposition and defense of the graduate multimedia performance / work and its written documentation,
- writing, submission and defense of a diploma thesis in the form of a professional text of the extent of min. 40 pages without attachments,

The master's graduate performance or exposition consists of the implementation of an interdisciplinary composition, usually in the form of a comprehensive and informative musical-visual installation, interactive environment, concert, film or theater performance, etc. The technical and artistic level of all components is significantly elaborated and follows current artistic trends. The student consults all parameters of the work with the supervisor of the graduate performance, or with another professional consultant or technologist. Consultations concern the music, art, movement and stage components, technical, etc. The graduate performance can be realized in the HF Chamber Hall, in the corridors of the HF building, in the DnO hall or rehearsal rooms and in other suitable spaces .). The time range is set at a minimum of 15 minutes of necessary audience attention.
The evaluation of the graduate performance or exposition includes the profile of the graduate prepared by the supervisor of the outcome, a written opinion of the opponent of the graduate performance, defense of the graduate performance or exposition at the state final examination and possible feedback of participating students and spectators (especially from the professional public). - Requirements of the studyStudents are obliged to present their multimedia works and compositions at concerts and stage performances, for example in the Studies of Contemporary Music, at festivals, exhibitions and creative workshops, occasionally in public spaces. Implementation and public presentation of compulsory study outcomes under the supervision of a teacher is not only a demonstration of acquired practical skills, but also a demonstration of competencies using the necessary knowledge and orientation in current events in the field. Cooperation with other components of the creative team in the creation of interdisciplinary, interfaculty and inter-school projects, obtaining feedback and reflection on implementation issues within the seminar, etc. also contribute to the student's professional experience. Excursions and direct participation in concerts, performances, exhibitions, festivals, public shows and projects are an inseparable part of quality of preparation for practice and professional live in an artistic operation.
- Suggestion of theses topics and the topics of defended thesesThe topics of Diploma theses are defined during the admission procedure, their specification and method of elaboration occurs during the first year of study and subsequently on the basis of study of professional literature and acquired artistic preferences in this interdisciplinary field and acquisition of theoretical and practical skills.
They reflect research in the field of art forms, which fall into the broad field of "Time Based Art". In addition to traditional artistic practice, they also map borderline genres in contemporary art and explore the possibilities of using their means of expression against the background of information technology, integrated and computer systems, and evolving digital culture. The works partially connect the interpretive and authorial principles of creation, aimed at forming a new artistic expression and enabling the formulation of an authentic creative program of the future graduate.
Proposed topics of Diploma theses:
- the principle of coincidence or chance in multimedia art works,
- interactive and adaptive sound design,
- expressive possibilities of experimental musical instruments with an overlap into the visual aesthetics of their design,
- sound installations and the issue of their exposition,
- experimental film and video art,
- numerical systems in musical composition,
- user interface as a way to control digital musical instruments, etc.
