Course objectives

The course aims to place students’ experience with drama education in formal and non-formal educational settings within the broader context of contemporary arts education. It combines theoretical perspectives with practical experience gained through professional practice and introduces students to the principles of film and audiovisual education, visual arts education, music education, and dance and movement education.


The course promotes an interdisciplinary understanding of the educational area Arts and Culture, develops students’ ability to reflect on their own teaching experience, and encourages them to seek inspiration across artistic disciplines. Students become familiar with current trends in arts education, the use of digital technologies, and methods of documenting and reflecting on educational practice. The course places particular emphasis on the development of professional identity and prepares future educators to respond creatively to contemporary educational needs in accordance with current curriculum frameworks.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • demonstrate an understanding of current approaches to arts education in both formal and non-formal educational settings;
  • explain the fundamental principles of film and audiovisual, visual arts, music, and dance and movement education and apply them in educational practice;
  • integrate concepts from different artistic disciplines into educational planning and teaching;
  • analyse and critically reflect on educational programmes and teaching approaches;
  • document their own educational practice using written, visual, and audiovisual methods;
  • use an inspiration journal as a tool for professional reflection and continuous development;
  • critically evaluate their own teaching experience as well as experience gained through professional practice;
  • employ digital technologies for documenting, reflecting on, and presenting educational activities;
  • independently seek inspiration from a variety of artistic disciplines and educational contexts.

    • Assessment methods

    The course is completed by a graded assessment.


    Requirements for successful completion include regular active participation, continuous reflection on course activities, and submission of an Inspiration Portfolio.


    The Inspiration Portfolio documents the student's professional development throughout the semester and includes reflections on educational programme visits, responses to selected literature, documentation of personal teaching experience, and an ongoing inspiration journal. Assessment focuses on the student's ability to critically reflect on acquired experience, relate it to theoretical concepts, and apply it in planning their own educational practice.
