Course objectives
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic terminology, content, and concepts of theater and education, both on a theoretical and practical level. In connection with the field of study, attention is also paid to literature for children and young people as a starting point for pedagogical and theatrical creation (searching for themes, topics, genres, staging keys, etc.). Within the course students acquire basic practical skills through their own experience.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will:
- know the basic terminology of the field, which they will be able to apply in practice;
- be able to define the content and objectives of the field;
- be aware of the practical possibilities of using theater and education in the Czech Republic and the profile of graduates of the field of study;
- be able to distinguish between different methods and forms of drama education;
- be familiar with the historical development and basic terminology of literature for children and young people, with an emphasis on contemporary works
- be able to identify the possibilities and risks of literary works for educational and theatrical work.

Assessment methods
ZS: Credit will be awarded based on attendance and the completion of written documentation from the practical part of the course. LS: Credit will be awarded based on attendance and the submission of a written assignment. The written assignment will consist of annotations of 15 books from children's and youth literature and an oral presentation of 3 selected books.
