Course objectives
The aim of the general psychology course is to introduce students to the structure of the psychological sciences, the subject of psychology and the terminology of general psychology (mental processes, states and properties and their disorders) and psychology of personality primarily for the purpose of further autonomous reading of the psychological literature in the following studies and for use in the pedagogical and theatrical practice of students.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge : - Students are oriented in the structure of psychological disciplines; - Students are oriented in the terminology of general psychology and the psychology of personality; - Students have a wide knowledge of theories of psychological processes, states and characteristics; - Students have a basic understanding of psychopathology. Skills: - Students are able to use psychological terminology in the proper context of the relevant literature; - Students can work with the psychological literature; - Students can apply knowledge of effective learning to their own learning and use training exercises to improve memory. Competencies: - Students are able to use their knowledge of general psychology, psychology of personality, and psychopathology to prepare and reflect on their teaching and theatre practice; - Students are able to apply the knowledge acquired in the field of psychology of personality for their personal growth and development in the field of work and personal life; - students are able to apply knowledge to self-knowledge, effective overcoming of stressful situations by applying elements of psychohygiene; - students are able to apply knowledge from the field of psychology in theatre production for children and other age groups.
Syllabus
During the first semester students will study the following areas of general psychology: - the subject of psychology; - the classification of psychology in the system of sciences; - the structure of the psychological sciences; - the basic dimensions of the personality; - Methodology of psychology; specific research methods in psychology; - cognitive processes - sensing and perception; - perception, properties of perception, perceptual disorders; - imagination and fantasy; - thinking as problem solving, how to practice thinking; - thinking and language; - Psychopathology and its subject matter, disorders of thought and speech; - attention and its disorders; - ADHD as an Attention Deficit Disorder; techniques for working with children with ADHD.

Lecture, work with text, discussion methods, individual work of students, work with the media
Assessment methods
The semester ends with a written exam covering specified topics. For students Theatre and Education for the Deaf specialisation, the written exam is followed by an oral exam, interpreted into sign language by an interpreter.
