- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide a comprehensive overview of theater, education, and training from the perspective of teaching methodology. The course thus combines the knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired during previous studies and forms a comprehensive picture of theater and education as artistic and pedagogical disciplines. In connection with the field of study, attention is paid to the creation of productions for children and young people, and the creation of productions with children and young people.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students:
- demonstrate broad knowledge of the history and didactics of drama education/theater and education and are able to apply this knowledge in practice;
- are able to formulate the objectives and content of the field in formal and informal education;
- are able to characterize the didactic methods of the field and apply this knowledge in practice;
- master the process of structuring and planning a teaching unit, know the tools for reflection and evaluation;
- are familiar with the process of creating productions for children and young people and creating productions with children and young people, and are able to use appropriate tools for creation and reflection;
- are familiar with current curricular documents related to the field. - Syllabus
- The origins of drama education/theater and education in the context of education, theater and education/drama education in an international context from a historical perspective
- Characteristics of the field of theater and education (objectives and content of the field, supporting fields – pedagogy and psychology, basic areas of the field, the field and its overlaps, issues of defining the field)
- Didactic methods and forms of teaching, structuring and planning
- Starting points for creating productions for children and young people, and creating productions with children and young people
- Methods of assessment in arts education, perception, reception and reflection of the theater experience
- Theater and education/drama education in formal education, basic curricular documents
