Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the creative process of the birth (emergence) of theatre production.
Learning outcomes
The student understands the conceptual dramaturgical-directing resources of the choice and preparation of the theater production before beginning of rehearsals with the actors. He understands whole process of rehearsing period including the creative participation of the production and technical part until the completion of whole process i.e. public presentation to the audience and reflection.
Students are able to find their place and integrate into the process when enter the praxis.
Syllabus
  • The course introduces students to the creative process of the emergence of theatre performance, it is focused on programme resources, dramaturgy plan issues, formation process of dramaturgy-directing plan, the characterization of the creative subjects, their mutual cooperation when creating the structure of the theatre performance.
  • The span of the emergence of theatre performance is presented on examples with audiovisual and photo demonstrations during the lecture - from the first dramaturgical stimulus to the first night.
  • In the following seminar, students are encouraged to analyze selected theatre performances and demonstrate their understanding of the subject through a retrospective.

Teaching methods
Regular lectures with seminar part
A specific teaching method of the course is open dialogue (the basic principle of theater work), discussion about attended performances, analysis of their emergence, defense of dramaturgical plan of the theatre season suggested by a student. The participation in the theater festival outside Brno is a part of the course - this method allows a concentrated verification of acquired knowledge in practice.
