- Course objectives
- The aim is to bring students to learn about the extensive field of culture outside of the theatrical context. However, with a perspective focused on the field of cultural production. Course will primarily focus on the history of art from its beginnings to the present, and milestones in the development of individual artistic styles will be presented on the most important works. The students should thus obtain a basic general overview of art and culture. By searching for links between historical styles and their variations in the present, course reveals a wide field of culture to ensure the student is easier to orientate in the current world of art and cultural trends.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to orientate in basic fields of art and cultural theories after completing the course. Student should be able to distinguish the most prominent artistic styles and correctly incorporate them into their historical, political and social contexts.

- The subject structure will be divided into selected topics:
- 1) Basic concepts and theories of art;
- 2) Art until 1900;
- 3) Art after 1900;
- 4) Film as a new medium;
- 5) Art and politics;
- 6) Postmodernism, Pop culture and the Internet.

- Teaching methods
- Lessons are in the form of lectures (50%) and seminars (50%). Lectures will consist of presentations, text and image analysis, discussions, audiovisual and educational excursions.
- Assessment methods
- Evaluation will be based on three written written assignments. Each of the assignements can score from 0 to 5 points. For the successful completion of the course, it is necessary to obtain at least 10 points out of 15 possible.
