The course is taught in the winter semester of the first year of undergraduate study, the only prerequisite is therefore admission.

Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course: Familiarization of the students with the current lighting techniques, with possibilities of its use in scenic lighting, including theoretical knowledge of light. The student will be intoduced the principles of work with light in the theater and with the conventional luminares and their use.

Descriptors: the student will gain knowledge about lighting technology and its use in the theatre, skills to create a lighting plan according to the requirements of the stage design concept and to light the performance
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- create a lighting concept
- programming basic lighting control systems
- be familiar with professional terminology
- orientation in lighting typology
- be familiar with the hierarchy of technical staff in theatre production
- create basic light documentation
- understand the colour mixing and spaces
- know the range of lighting technologies on the market
- Build a control chain using the DMX512 protocol

Teaching methods
Lectures take place on a regular basis in the form of presentations and practical exercises, where students immediately verify the theory in practice.
Assessment methods
Credit is awarded on the basis of attendance (at least 80% attendance), completion of partial tasks during the semester assigned by the teacher and submission of a seminar thesis on the assigned topic.
