Course objectives
The aim of the course is to identify the basic principles of creating a theatre production with amateur groups of different ages and backgrounds. Students will compare their own experience from previous studies with the approaches of various personalities in the field of Drama. They will explore the method of choosing a model and its influence on the work and the resulting form of the production, they will deal with various ways of creating a dramaturgical and directing concept with a group, ways of conducting acting work with amateurs and possible directing procedures. They will also explore the possibilities of theatrical means - scenography and its creation with a group, music and lighting components. An overview of amateur competitive and non-competitive theatre shows in the Czech Republic will also be included.

Student's professional knowledge:


- students are familiar with the needs and peculiarities of the target group;


- students actively use their knowledge of creating a theatrical production and reflecting on the process;


- students demonstrate knowledge of various approaches to creating a production based on the needs of the target group; 




Student's professional skills:


- students can prepare the process of creating a theatrical production with a specific amateur group;


- students are familiar with various approaches of personalities in the field of DaV to creating a production and their principles;


- students can use knowledge of other subjects to explore a given topic.




Student's general competencies:


- students are able to use knowledge of general pedagogy and psychology when working with an amateur group;


- students are able to apply the acquired knowledge for their personal growth and development in the field of work and personal life;


- students know the principles of learning processes and can use them to create a theatrical production;


- students are able to apply knowledge from their own theatrical production for children and other age groups.

1. Mapping students' experiences with the creation of the production process


2. Working with a starting point - searching and possibilities


3. Leading the process - acting x stage action, dramaturgical-directing concept, dramatization with the target group.


4. Directing approaches and involving the group in the process.


5. Working with an actor in amateur theater.


6. Theater resources and their creation and use - scenography.


7. Theater resources and their creation and use - music and lights.


8. The process of re-enactment and recasting the production.
