Students complete the course in social psychology following on from general and developmental psychology.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to offer students an overview of selected topics in social psychology, an orientation in communication concepts, and an introduction to specific communication codes used by minorities. A key objective of the course is to introduce techniques of psychohygiene.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge: - students are oriented in the terminology of social psychology; - students are oriented in the terminology of communication theories; - students are oriented in the terminology of psychogiene. Skills:- Students are able to reflect the characteristics of a social group when designing a programme for a diverse group of participants. - Students are able to suggest appropriate methods for leading a group and justify their chosen approach when working with a group. - Students are able to actively use effective communication when working in a team.- Students are able to apply their knowledge to recognize stressful situations in a group and find ways to effectively overcome stressful situations by applying elements of psycho-hygiene. Competencies: - Students are able to apply the principles of active listening and communication as team members. - Students are able to apply the acquired skills and abilities in the process of theater creation and pedagogical work with a group. - Students are able to analyze and reflect on communication situations in a group. - Students are able to use psycho-hygiene techniques for a group of participants and for the sustainable development of their personality.
Syllabus
During the first semester, students will study the following areas of social psychology: - social psychology, its subject matter and methods; - socialisation aspects; - characteristics of social groups; - roles within a group; - sociometry; - group leadership styles; - the influence of groups on individuals; - interpersonal relationships; - the special status of dyadic relationships.

Assessment methods
The semester ends with a written exam covering specified topics. For students specializing in Theater and Education for the Deaf, the written exam is followed by an oral exam, interpreted into sign language by an interpreter.
