Course objectives
In this course, conducted in the form of a workshop with a theoretical foundation, students will expand their knowledge of puppet theater as a visual theater genre with possibilities for its use in educational and artistic practice. The aim of this course is to broaden students' awareness of puppet theater to such an extent that they perceive it primarily as a visual, artistic, and metaphorical theater, working with different perspectives and significant spatial divisions. Theater that can speak not only to children, but also to young people and adult audiences
Learning outcomes
The practical outcome of the workshop will be puppet etudes, in which participants will have the opportunity to apply their acquired experience in practice.
Syllabus
During this intensive meeting, they will learn about other possibilities of puppet theater: figurative theater, object theater, object theater, playing with scenography, projection, light... They will gain an awareness of the breadth of puppet theater by watching a video with excerpts from contemporary puppet productions from around the world. They will learn about the production of various types of puppets from different materials (paper, plastic, pieces of wood, cups, coasters, etc.) and simple craft techniques used in their production. They will reflect on the technologies of different types of puppets and their suitability or unsuitability for the realization of the intended themes. They will create short etudes.
