Student graduated in the bachelor degree of Theatre Production and Stage Technology or in equal type of studies.

Course objectives
As the Master's degree program is focused on profession of a art producer, this course aims to provide knowledge and application in the field of strategic planning and management with a stress on:
a) strategic management of art and cultural institutions,
b) strategic planning of the public sector in the field of culture.

Learning outcomes
Student
- applies his/her existing knowledge in the field of theater operation and operation of cultural institutions and management,
- is familiar with basic primary and secondary literature concerned on strategic management including international sources even those focused on artistic institutions,
- understands the issue of strategic management and the role of the producer within the strategic management,
- is able to identify and integrate marketing and fundraising principles into the overall strategic management of cultural institutions,
- understands the importance of political and legislative environment and international cultural policy for the strategic management of artistic institutions,
- can utilize the knowledge of the environment and the international vocabulary of the professional field,
- can read, understand and process foreign literature,
- is capable bring a strategic analysis to build a strategic plan and to translate it into long-term, short-term and operational plans, reflecting the specifics of the environment in which artistic activity is being realized,
- can design and conduct relevant research to analyze data and utilize the findings of strategic management analyzes,
- is able to identify problem chains, to choose and to defend their own creative approaches to their solution in the utmost respect to the external and internal environment.

  • Introduction to the strategic management.
    Strategic thinking and leadership.
    Principles of strategic management.
    - Identification of needs,
    - Defining the vision and mission statement,
    - Analysis of the internal environment,
    - Environmental analysis,
    - Revision of n the vision and mission,
    - Goals determination,
    - Determination of variants (scenarios) and the choice of one alternative strategies (develop of total or partial strategies, offensive, defensive, residual strategy)
    - Examination of the appropriateness of the strategy (navigation strategy),
    - setting the programme,
    - Realization.
    Innovation vs. invention.
    Entrepreneurial approach in arts management.
    System of measurement of the strategic business performance (BSC) with application to the theater (BSC_D).

Teaching methods
Regular teaching in English language, lecture plus seminar
Student works with an interactive curriculum to solve assigned tasks. Interractive curriculum serves also for self-study (to improve the contexts and work examples from practice)

Assessment methods
Evaluation based seminar papers (min. 3 works) verifying the knowledge of reading foreign literature. Verification of knowledge within the colloquium.
The practical application of the knowledge is followed by the Producent Seminar in the second year of study.
