Outlining the basic issues of interpreting works by Brahms, which have not yet been summarized in any Czech-language publication. These include specific contemporary aesthetic criteria, the use of techniques such as vibrato, pedaling, working with tempo, and others. In the Czech Republic, the established tradition mostly presents the romantic style primarily as a purely emotional and intuitive interpretation, with the use of the aforementioned technical elements either randomly or in a way that does not correspond to the aesthetic requirements and ideas of the authors of the period. The author considers awareness of the spectrum and extent of individual specificities to be a fundamental contribution to artistic practice.
