Viola d´amore je nástrojem, jehož doba největší obliby spadá do období mezi polovinou 17. století a koncem 18. století. Nicméně nikdy nebyla zcela zapomenuta, jak to dokládají např. skladby Paula Hindemitha nebo Leoše Janáčeka. I v tvorbě současných skladatelů je o komponování pro tento nástroj zájem. Této skutečnosti napomáhá to, že je několik interpretů, kteří novou tvorbu pro tento nástroj podněcují. Mezi tyto výrazné iniciátory patří houslista, violista a hráč na violu d´amore Marco Fusi nebo Annegret Mayer-Lindenberg, hráčka na violu d´amore, výrobkyně nástrojů a skladatelka. Soudobých skladeb vzniklých po roce 1970 v obsazení do tří nástrojů nebo hlasů včetně elektroniky existuje přes šedesát. Tento příspěvek je sondou do vybraných kompozic a shrne výzkum zaměřující se na využívání možností violy d´amore v soudobé hudbě v souvislosti s vybranými díly. Zacíleno bude na tyto kompozice: Odysseus in Ogygia od Rachel Stott, to let go of the universe od Annegret Mayer-Lindenberg, Utter/Enunciate od Þráinna Hjálmarssona a Spikes od Zena Baldiho.

The viola d'amore is an instrument that enjoyed its greatest popularity between the mid-17th century and the end of the 18th century. However, it was never completely forgotten, as evidenced by compositions by Paul Hindemith and Leoš Janáček, for example. Contemporary composers are also interested in composing for this instrument. This is helped by the fact that there are several performers who encourage new compositions for this instrument. Among these prominent initiators are violinist, violist, and viola d'amore player Marco Fusi and Annegret Mayer-Lindenberg, viola d'amore player, instrument maker, and composer. There are over sixty contemporary compositions written after 1970 for three instruments or voices, including electronics. This contribution is an exploration of selected compositions and summarizes research focusing on the use of the viola d'amore in contemporary music in connection with selected works. It will focus on the following compositions: Odysseus in Ogygia by Rachel Stott, to let go of the universe by Annegret Mayer-Lindenberg, Utter/Enunciate by Þráinna Hjálmarsson, and Spikes by Zeno Baldi.
