Abstract
Theatre Conference Brno 2021 examined the ever-expanding and changing horizons of theatre as well as theatre research. The idea of theatre outside the designated theatre building is nothing new, yet the academic viewpoint tends to focus on the purely dramaturgical and directional matters of such projects. Being an academy of performing arts, we aimed to examine this phenomenon not only from the perspective of the changing thematic focus, but also from the view of theatre management, light and sound technology, or stage design. During the conference, we bridged theatre practitioners and academics and offered a think tank, where everyone could share their opinion on the theatre horizons. We invited doctoral students as well as experienced theatre-makers. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the conference was held in a hybrid form. Speakers, discussion and panel moderators attended the conference personally at the Orlí Street Theatre, other participants participated online (the conference was fully streamed). Academics and professionals from 14 countries (Czech Republic, Great Britain, Finland, Hungary, Japan, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, United States of America) took part in the event.
