Abstract
In the original language
Granular synthesis is an established method used in the field of electronic music. The material generated by this method becomes a subject of compositional interest – which means questions arise as how to further handle this material. Granular synthesis as a conceptual model does not exist only in the field of music but it appears in various kinds of art. This article provides and overview of historical concepts and philosophical foundations of the granular model and its overlaps with the compositional approach in music.
