The aim of the conference was to reflect on practices and agenda of Bildwissenschaft in relation to the discipline of art history and on various issues and problems arising at the intersection of these two fields of enquiry. It explored various modes and points of interface, interaction and antinomy between art history and Bildwissenschaft, both in university and academic environment and in the realm of museum and exhibition practice.
