Degree programme specification
SCENOGRAPHY
To be admitted to the follow-up master’s degree study programme, the applicant must do as follows: above all, demonstrate a bachelor’s degree; present a portfolio; submit the intention of further studies; submit the annotation of his or her master’s thesis; and submit the graduation project intention. In the first round, the applicant’s personality, artistic maturity and interconnection in a team are assessed on the basis of the submitted materials. In the second round, the professional qualification is ascertained in an interview with a committee.
LIGHTING DESIGN
The applicant must be a graduate of at least bachelor’s degree studies with an artistic, artistic-technical or media focus and submit a complete application for studies before the set deadline (portfolio of own creative works with a focus on the medium of light, a brief essay on the expected diploma thesis, structured curriculum vitae, a copy of the Matura school-leaving examination certificate and a higher education institution diploma, confirmation of payment of the administrative fee). In the first round, which takes place without the applicant’s participation, the committee evaluates the submitted documents. The second round takes place with the applicant’s personal participation and it has three parts – a written test, an interview about his/her own portfolio and a discussion about the applicant’s direction and intentions during the studies.

SCENOGRAPHY
The master’s degree studies in this field aim to create qualified artists who are fully prepared for top artistic creation practice in art and cultural institutions and other entities operating in the sector of cultural industries. It also aim to support graduates to allow them to further focus on the theory and reflection of artistic creation in a broader context within the doctoral studies.
LIGHTING DESIGN
The studies in this field aim to create experts in the field of Lighting Design and projection in response to the demand for such experts. These are to become self-sufficient artists with deep knowledge of lighting technologies and techniques with a significant overlap into scenography, with a wide range of knowledge and the ability to creatively apply that knowledge especially in the field of theatre production.
The study plan is equally focused on theoretical knowledge and practical skills, representing both the technical subjects and humanities. Certain courses are based on cooperation with other studios. In addition to regular classes, the studio organises workshops, excursions and seminars with Czech and foreign experts. Students are motivated to participate in festivals and conferences. In their assignments, they collaborate on projects, become part of creative teams, gain valuable experience and establish interesting contacts. They have the opportunity realise the graduation project in one of the school theatres. There is often also the possibility to establish cooperation beyond school projects.

SCENOGRAPHY
Graduates of the follow-up master’s degree studies
are artists, i.e. professionals who apply their skills and the acquired experience in practice across the creative industries. They demonstrate practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of theatre and film scenography, costume and clothing design, lighting design, projection technologies and organisation of exhibitions. They are familiar with the development and current trends in art theory, as well as in the field of lighting technologies and their control devices. They can work with video and projections when creating a scenographic vision. They are able to create, technically document and present a dramaturgical and lighting concept of a theatrical production, film, event, show and the like.

LIGHTING DESIGN
The graduates demonstrate broad (practical and theoretical) knowledge in the field of lighting design and projection technologies, they are familiar with the developments and current trends of lighting technologies and their control devices, they have deep knowledge of the history and theory of world and Czech theatre and scenography, they demonstrate understanding of other theatrical and artistic disciplines (direction, dramaturgy, scenography) and have basic knowledge of film, television and architectural lighting, which they can expanded and apply in these fields.
Thanks to the above, they are able to create, technically document and present the lighting concept of a theatrical production, film, event, show, and the like. They can independently design and prepare a lighting exhibition, show or a similar event from the dramaturgical concept to its implementation. They can implement the design of a lighting concept in practice and have mastered the technology of the theatre space. They are able to work with video technology and projections when creating a lighting concept and they are familiar with the latest trends in the development of lighting systems and can work with modern audio and video technologies.
The graduates have the competence necessary to independently create lighting designs for productions of all genres (opera, dance theatre and ballet, drama, musical, etc.), as well as to create a lighting concept in accordance with a direction and scenographic concept in a creative team composed of a director-stage (and costumes) designer and a lighting designer. The can also develop a lighting concept in visualisation software for a specific type of theatre space with a specific scenography and specific lighting sources and put that concept into practice with the local lighting team.
