In order to apply for this course, you need to be a part of a specific project, where it is clear to you, what you will need to sing. That may for example be your own project, where you will need to play and additionally sing your own compositions, or where you need to be able to sing second vocals. It is meant as an addition to your main instrument, sometimes the use your main instrument and vocals at the same time. Furthermore, there should be either already the use of vocals in the past, or the urge to acquire the knowledge. The students will be selected according to the parameters.

- Course objectives
- The aim of this course is understanding the basics of a healthy, modern singing technique and being able to put it to use in contemporary projects. Besides working with own material, learning one Jazz Standard will be part of the curriculum. The course will take place over one semester and consists of individual singing lessons as well as specific homework equal to 1 Credit.

2. Basics of Phonation
a. Composition of Vocal tract
b. Balancing and coordination of Registers
c. Monitoring of Tensions / Vocal Hygiene
3. Basics of Vocal Onset, Place of Resonance, Articulation, Phrasing (Agogika)
a. Healthy Vocal Onset
b. Consciousness for different places of resonance and their equivalent sound
c. Means of phrasing and their effects
4. Warm up / Efficient Training Routine, Learning and performing a standard
a. Creating your own Warm Up
b. Learning and performing one Jazz Standard
c. (Maybe singing second voices to any random piece of music)

- Realistically, about 10 Lessons of Vocals, 20 lessons of practice / homework. That includes at least 1-2 hours of creating a routine, 1-2 hours of specific homework tasks, and therefore for every lessons of voice there should be 2 hours of practice. That would be 20 minutes a day/week.
