Course objectives
Definition of functional definitions of jazz harmonies and their application in practice. Preparation and analysis of jazz standards.
Syllabus
  • Secondary dominants, harmonic rhythm, substitute dominants, relatives chords II-seventh Minor tonality - scales and modes, doškálné chords, secondary dominants and substitution. Fundamentals of confusion modal chords SDM group. Line cliché. Pentatonic scale. Analysis of simple harmonic structures of jazz standards and songs. (Eg., "Autumn Leaves, Black Orpheus, Take the A Train, Softly as in a Morning Sunrise, Wil There Never Be Another You" ...).
