Course objectives
Practice with emphasis on conceptual work in a creative team with dramaturg, director, actors, lighting designer/scenographer.

Complex scenographic design, costume concept or lighting design (depending on specialization) with following realization on the theatre stages of the JAMU Theatre and Music Faculty, or in a professional theatre outside JAMU.

Possibility of practical use of experience gained from scene design, costume and lighting concept courses.

Practical activities related to personal creation, production of own project, independent creation, responsible presentation.
Learning outcomes
The student realizes a complex scenographic work, costume or lighting design. The student submits a detailed project and checks its realization until the premiere/presentation. The student will gain experience in planning and executing a theatrical performance or other work of art and working with a team. Gain an understanding of the time demands of the various stages of the project. Meet professionals in various fields and gain contacts.
Syllabus
  • Text analysis and text interpretation
  • Collaboration with the director and dramaturg of the team
  • Defining a common dramaturgical and artistic concept
  • Textual annotation and visualization of the project
  • Design of visual presentation

  • Completion of the project on the basis of the explication meeting

Assessment methods
Lighting design:
Submission of project documentation containing at least: 1) a brief annotation and basic information about the project (place and time of first presentation, creative team), 2) a light-plan (light-plot) and 3) a lighting scenario (cuelist). Ideally also a focus plan and materials used in the preparation of the light design (moodboard, storyboard, sketches, 3D visualizations, photos of the model, etc.).

Documentation should be submitted in  one pdf file, with the student's last name, course title, and semester in the title (e.g., Vopička_Practical Project II_ZS2021)

If the nature of the project is incompatible with the required elements of the documentation, the student will discuss the deliverables individually with the course instructor.

Completion of the course is contingent upon its inclusion in IS, artwork section, school or extracurricular project
