- Course objectives
- Introduce students who are not studying scenography as their main discipline with basic terminology, concepts of scenography. and bring them to the problems of the industry. Zoom in the thinking and work of the scenographer.
Connect the way of working and thinking between the scenographer and stage technology student. - Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to orientate better in the nowadays scenography and in its history.
Student deepen his/her knowledge about culture trends and art directions in 20th century focused on architecture and fine art which are closely related to iconography.
Theoretical part of lectures in connection with small artistic tasks should bring insight into the specific work of a scenographer and thus create good prerequisites for mutually enriching cooperation on joint projects. - Syllabus
- A rough overview of 20th century artistic movements and their main representatives, with emphasis on architecture and fine arts.
- Influence of modern ideas and experiments on theatre and scenography (impressionism, expressionism, cubism, futurism, constructivism, Bauhaus, functionalism, Dada, surrealism, abstract art, pop art).
- Practical exercises: students create drawings and art objects on given themes with an emphasis on the perception of the meaning of the concepts: colour - shape - material - space - light - action.
- They are engaged in translating and materializing feelings, expressing atmosphere, searching for the key and concept to grasp the space and artistic conception of the theme.
