Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic principles and types of theater technology (lighting, sound, set and video), including acquiring basic practical skills and orientation in the given field.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- orientate in basic terminology in the field of sound, light, set and video
- perform technically simple projects (sound, light, set or video)
- communicate with stage staff
Syllabus
  • SOUND
  • Students will deal with a topic of sound, especially with what a sound is, sound recording, sound reproduction, audio chain elements, connectivity and interface, basics of electro, reading in technical documentation and sound glossary.
  • LIGHTING
  • Students will learn, what a light is (physical parameters of light), they will learn about light sources, colour mixing, types of luminaires, their use and accessories; connectivity and interface, lighting control systems, basics of electro, reading in technical documentation and light glossary.
  • CONSTRUCTION AND VIDEO
  • Students will acquaint with health and safety at work, basics of electro, standardized building elements, hanging, elements of stage machinery; stage sets, materials and covers; reading in technical documentation, what a video is (basic parameters of digital video signal), data interfaces, video sources, displays, video signal distribution and video glossary.
  • PRACTICAL TRAINING PROJECT
  • According to the tender documentation, students will be given the task of technically securing and implementing a fictitious project (for example, a concert, theatre production, lecture…), where students will be able to test their acquired knowledge and skills in practice.
Teaching methods
Each semester a one-day workshop is held in which students are introduced to the topics of lighting, sound, construction and video. A final practical learning project will be carried out during the workshop.

Credit awarded based on personal attendance at the workshop.
