The course is taught in the winter semester of the first year of undergraduate study, the only prerequisite is therefore admission.

Course objectives
Objective : To familiarize the student with all the sub-organizational methods, planning and execution of premieres, performances and season. The student will learn about the organizational connections of the artistic and non-artistic professions to the performing arts company. Familiarity with professional theatre terminology and lingo. Familiarity with theatre typologies and their differences in planning, staffing, and operations.

Descriptors.
The student is also able to work as a producer or secretary in a theatre or as a production manager in a theatre production shop or as an outside production manager for theatres.
The student also understands the issues of set transportation and is able to meet the organizational connections of production to the operational running of the theatre.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- navigate and use professional theatre terminology and vocabulary,
- be familiar with job positions and their job descriptions,
- plan the preparation and implementation of school projects, including timelines,
- create a ferman,
- be able to produce enrollment of handover and explication meetings,
- be able to name the differences between operating a single- and multi-department theatre,
- evaluate and name the advantages and disadvantages of running a theatre in terms of planning, organisation in relation to legal form, type of theatre, etc.
- fulfil the organisational links between production and the operational running of the theatre.

  • Contents of the course:
  • - professional terminology including theatre terminology,
  • - job positions in theaters, including job descriptions,
  • - types of theaters (in terms of legal form, genre, type, etc.),
  • - organizational structures of theatre operations,
  • - planning in the theatre,
  • - organization of theatre operations,
  • - types of employees and employee relations,
  • - economic indicators in the theatre,
  • - planning and implementation of tours,
  • - theatre production - practical implementation of scenographic designs, scenographic fidelity in the production and operation of performances,
  • - organisation of theatre production - organisational continuity on stage,
  • - theatre operation and occupational safety and fire protection,
  • - preparation and implementation of outdoor projects,
  • - stage technology.

Teaching methods
Regular teaching consisting of 1 hour of lecture and 1 hour of seminar (seminar and lecture part are intertwined according to the strategy of the specific two-hour session).
Assessment methods
Class attendance (minimum 80% attendance) is a requirement for the written colloquium (constitutes 80% of the final grade). The student also prepares a seminar paper on the assigned topic of 5NS (constitutes 20% of the final grade).
