Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basics of music theory, especially with regard to the knowledge and understanding of the development of the structure of musical compositions and compositional methods in connection with the development of individual genres and styles of European artificial music.
Learning outcomes
-After completing the course, the student will master the basics of music theory in the field of musicology and musical forms.
-The student will be able to define the basic music-theoretical specifics of music of a given genre or style.
-The student will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in the field of music theory to the knowledge of the historical and stylistic development of European artificial music.

  • ZS:
  • -Compendium of music theory.
  • -Compendium of musical forms and a brief outline of other music-theoretical disciplines.
  • -Music-theoretical aspects of the development of music in the Renaissance period (theoretical interpretation of stylistic and style elements of musical structure, listening, interpretation and analysis of compositions).
  • -Music-theoretical aspects of the development of music in the Baroque period (theoretical interpretation of stylistic and style elements of musical structure, listening, interpretation and analysis of compositions).
  • -Presentation of students' seminar semester assignments.
  • LS:
  • -Music-theoretical aspects of the development of music in the Classicist period (theoretical interpretation of stylistic and style elements of musical structure, listening, interpretation and analysis of compositions).
  • -Music-theoretical aspects of the development of music in the Romanticist period (theoretical interpretation of stylistic and style elements of musical structure, listening, interpretation and analysis of compositions).
  • -Musical theoretical aspects of the development of 20th century music (theoretical interpretation of the elements of musical structure of individual styles, listening, interpretation and analysis of compositions).
