- Course objectives
- Revise and unify high school level knowledge in the social sciences, provide students with clear information and social sciences base that would help them to understand the cultural policy in the country.
Provide students with the first methodological guidance for seminar paper and presentation.
Student knows the current structure of Czech theater network, distinguishes different legal status/legal bodies of institutions, understands the issues of subsidized theaters in details.
Student understands the context of cultural policy in terms of issues of public sector and public economics, understands the level of state and local governments and their responsibility for culture and arts.. - Learning outcomes
- After completing the subject, student will be able to:
- generally explain the concepts of culture and art and their role in society;
- define the concept of policy in broader context;
- define the concept of cultural policy, relation between culture and policy;
- define and describe system and fonction of public and administration;
- define the nonprofit and public sector, describe its functions, organisations and institutions;
- analyse economical and legislative apsects of public and local administration - Syllabus
- winter semester - Basic information on political science (politics, political system), political science, constitutional law - Basic information about the models of the economy, the public sector (division, measurement of effectiveness) - Basic information on the principles of public choice, public control - Basic information about the system of public administration, its financing (state budget, public budgets), the municipal and regional arrangements - Basic information about the nonprofit sector (NGO typology, compared to the non-profit public-private non-profit sector), the contributory organizations - Basic general information applicable to specific examples of cultural maps of the Czech Republic
