Course objectives
The aim of the course is the application of theater management through work experience. Students are participating on a large scale project (festival SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER) and they are guided to apply theoretical skills gained within the first year of their bachelor studies under supervision.
After graduation of the subject student acquires wide practical knowledge concerning the organization of the festival, practical legal knowledge related to theatre/event management. Student is able to work in a team and take responsibility for his/her own tasks as well as for the entire organizational team and perceives links between individual activities within the broader organizational structure.
Student is involved at the highest level of the organizational structure of the festival team, brings creative ideas for the work of his/her team work as well as for the whole concept of the festival. Is able to evaluate his/her own work and give feedback to his/her associates from the procedural and personal point of view.
Syllabus
  • Winter semester
    Strategic and project planning, financial management, legal issues, staffing international theater festival and international cultural events specifically with this syllabus:
    - project planning and strategic planning of the international theater festival
    - Financial management of the project: budgeting, fundraising, accounting and income as a basis for budgeting,
    - festival marketing and public relations, networking,
    - legal issues of the international theater festival,
    l - staffing of the international theater festival - the organizational structure,
    - management of communication and information flows, management team.
    Student involvement in the organization of the International Festival of Theatre Schools SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER at the highest management level (selection of the facilitator always closed until 1 February in the second year) including continuous peer review and self-evaluation in the seminar.

Assessment methods
Winter semester
Credit based on practical activities in the workshop and written output section (project plan, interim report). Evaluation will be carried by a student (team leader) after the consultation with teacher. Teacher gives the feedback for team leader.
