- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce distinctive tendencies of contemporary drama. Possibilities of dramaturgical and directorial approach will be discussed after a thorough analysis of a particular play. The course is focused on analysis of dramatic texts in English language.
- Learning outcomes (in Czech)
- Student by měl být schopen analyzovat vybraný současný dramatický text jak z hlediska tematického tak s ohledem na použití formálních prostředků. Měl by být schopen stručně charakterizovat kontext jeho vzniku - kulturní zázemí a divadelní tradici, z níž vychází. Měl by být schopen charakterizovat jeho strukturu a použité jazykové prostředky. V neposlední řadě by měl být také schopen nabídnout vlastní kreativní uchopení nabízené látky a její scénické možnosti.
- Syllabus
- The seminary is focused on analysis of plays in English language. Students will be introduced to various ways of reading and interpretation of texts of different kinds and dramaturgical approaches after a thorough analysis and discussion. The focus will be mainly on texts which introduce new possibilities of narration and dramaturgical thinking, shifting borders of possibilities of work with text as a basis of staging. Plays of following authors will be analysed: Caryl Churchill, Zinnie Harris, Mark Ravenhill, Mike Bartlett, David Greig, Martin Crimp, Lucy Prebble, Mark O'Rowe etc.
