Course objectives
The main objective is to provide students the basic methodology and information on partnering technique of a modern dance “par terre” ( on the floor) and “en l´air“ ( up in the air), which develops partners readiness, skills and dexterity. Modern partnering is an inseparable part of the art of dance and it teaches to use the principles of a contact improvisation. The students will become familiar with music, its content, moods, and scenic plot and especially with the rules of partners cooperation in dancing duets and in larger groups.
Descriptors: The graduates are able to work professionally and creatively with students of art schools and dance groups at different professional levels and with different dispositions. They can combine and evaluate pedagogic principles with the choreographic basis by applying anatomical and physiological knowledge.
Syllabus
  • - physical preconditions, balanced physical structures of the dancer and level of technical readiness to dance with a partner
  • - methodological distribution of possibilities in partnering depending on the attributes of the developmental period of immature dancers
  • - the basic methodology of partnering
  • - technique and habits of partnering: the basic principles of partnering technique “par terre”, the basic principles of partnering technique “en l´air“
  • - performing more skilled partnering combinations “par terre i en l´air“
  • - different ways of holding the partner and various forms of partners lifting and rotation
  • - rescue and assistance by partnering “en l´air“
