Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce the student to materials and production processes in the theatre environment.
The student will have a practical experience of the various activities in the theatre workshops (locksmithing, carpentry, carpentry, painting). The student will learn about the operation of the workshops, the planning and actual production of each department and their specificities. Students will visit professional workshops during the course of the course.

Descriptors: the student will use the acquired knowledge and skills in his/her future professional life, especially in the position of stage master or production master.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- elaborate the design of a set for the production process, including economic and time requirements,
- orient in the most used materials,
- map the production process of scenery,
- design suitable materials for production,
- observe the principles of occupational health and safety during production,
- design the production process of decorations to comply with H&S regulations.
Syllabus
  • Familiarisation with the observance of the OHS rules in workshops and production processes.
  • Observance of OSH and H&S principles on stage.
  • Materials:
  • - Textiles (natural, artificial) - properties, use.
  • - Wood (types) - properties, use.
  • - Metal (types) - properties, use.
  • - Plastics (types) - properties, use.
  • - Other materials - properties, use.
  • Procedures for making decorations:
  • - design,
  • - design processing,
  • - manufacture of rough construction,
  • - decorating,
  • - installation on set.
