- The aim of the course is to provide students with basic information on sociological research methods and techniques. Emphasis is placed on the adoption of the rules for drawing up the research project and the basic definition and typology of the research methods. Students will be made familiar with examples of the most important sociological surveys and will be guided in preparing their own research projects. The aim is to guide the students in the research planning process from the choice of the research topic, through the design of research questions, the selection of the research sample to the interpretation of the data.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student will:
- have mastered the basic knowledge needed to carry out their own research;
- have been able to correctly interpret and use sociological data;
- have been able to work with publicly available sources of sociological data. - Syllabus

- Course objectives (in Czech)
- Cílem předmětu je seznámit studující se základními metodami sociálněvědného výzkumu. Pozornost bude zaměřena na nejdůležitější zásady sociálněvědného výzkumu, nejvýznamnější výzkumné metody a techniky i konkrétní příklady využití příslušných metod v praxi. Studující by měli pochopit smysl a logiku užití daných výzkumných metod a osvojit si základní kompetence potenciálních producentů a/nebo příjemců dat a analytických výstupů vzešlých ze sociálněvědných výzkumů.
