Abstract

In the original language

This lecture was focused on the personal, or psychological, aspects of Frank Daniel’s teaching beyond the framework of rationally graspable theory. Through his lectures at USC, I observed how he guided students to navigate their own lives as if they existed in a cinematic space; I discussed the sense of security as both an inherent part of and one of the reasons for the international success of Daniel’s teaching (a sense evoked through both hierarchical and conspiratorial means); and I explained why I need to use empathy as a key tool for understanding archival materials and for establishing a screenwriting dialogue with Daniel’s own dramatic character.
