What place did Brno have on the theatrical map of Europe when it was known as Brünn? Theatre historian Andrea Jochmanová will present a selection of remarkable moments from the history of Brno theatre until 1945 – from significant projects on the German and Czech stages to surprising connections with European musical and theatrical traditions, including traces of Mozart. The lecture will offer the best of the city's rich cultural history and show how Brno functioned as a natural part of the Central European theatre network more than a century ago – as a place where different languages, traditions and artistic influences met.
