Přednáška představila výsledky tematické analýzy kolokvia a hloubkových rozhovorů s umělci a umělkyněmi pracujícími v oblasti uměleckého výzkumu.
In English
The lecture presented the results of a thematic analysis of a colloquium and in-depth interviews with artists working in the field of artistic research. It drew on constructivist grounded theory and examined how practitioners themselves understand, practice, and define artistic research. It demonstrated that artistic research does not constitute “science by other means,” but rather a specific epistemic regime grounded in situatedness, subjectivity, and process. Through concrete examples, it outlined a plurality of approaches, ranging from archival and essayistic methods to site-specific and interdisciplinary projects. Attention was also given to the institutional framework of doctoral studies and the tension between artistic freedom and methodological transparency. The presentation offered a framework for reflecting on one’s own research position and on the role of the artist as a producer of knowledge.
