The contribution focused on the International Federation of Independent Theatre (IFIT), which existed from 1977 to 1981 and whose members included the Divadlo na provázku theatre in Brno. Members came from Eastern and Western Europe, as well as North and South America. According to the original intention, the IFIT was to be „an association based on openness, a desire to cross the boundaries that separate people, and the hope of human solidarity and belief in the social power of the arts“. The aim was not only to cross geopolitical or territorial lines, but also to create a platform for the exchange of information, inspiration and experience between theatre companies with completely different poetics and social functions, operating within different political and cultural systems. Noteworthy are the IFIT Bulletins (a total of six issues were published between 1977 and 1981), which reflect not only the aforementioned connections between artistic personalities across continents, but above all an alternative approach to established theatrical conventions and the presentation of theater, as well as conventions and stereotypes in thinking and everyday life.
