The book The Comedy of the Passion at Studio Marta: The Story of an Acting Class and One of Its Productions presents the educational and artistic goals of a graduation production at Studio Marta (one of the venues of the Theatre Faculty of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno, Czech Republic). The production featured students of drama acting, working under professional guidance. The authors of the book are the director of the production, Ivo Krobot, and its dramaturg, Lukáš Rieger, who was also the students’ acting teacher. This book is divided into four parts, each focused on a different level of educational reflection: 1) Conceptual foundations of this production, which was based on the text of a Czech religious play, originally from the second half of the 18th century. 2) Analysis of the most significant situations and acting performances from the perspective of the director. 3) Pedagogical reflection on the three years of work by this particular acting class which preceded the students’ involvement in this particular production. 4) Evaluations of the production from various perspectives: the personal background to the director’s and dramaturg’s choice of title, quotes from reviews and correspondence with the audience, and a selection of the performing students’ reflections from the aforementioned interviews.
