David Dorůžka's article describes the challenges of composing for a trio setting of guitar, bass and drums in a modern jazz context. He describes his experiences in dealing with this musical format, its history and the possibilities that it offers. He offers an insight into the compositional process which preceded the recording of his 2016 album Autumn Tales with Jiří Slavík and Martin Novák. He also analyzes several pieces on the CD, discusses his musical influences and writes about various sources of inspiration that led to the creation of this album.
