Monografie reflektuje problematiku vývoje klavírního umění formou standardního muzikologického výzkumu, stejně jako odráží poznatky autorů získané realizací vlastního uměleckého výzkumu (tzv. Artistic research). Metodologicky vychází z chronologicko-srovnávací metody, kdy navazuje v dílčích stylových otázkách na názory estetiků a obecné kulturní dějiny. Ve výkladu jednotlivých autorů a jejich skladeb se soustřeďuje na podstatné charakteristiky jejich kompozičních technik a selektivních analýz konkrétních skladeb, čemuž napomáhají vybrané notové příklady.

The monograph deals with the development of piano art by means of standard research methods used in musicology. At the same time, the work deals with the findings of both authors gained through their own artistic research. In terms of the methodology, it uses the chronological-comparative method and follows the general cultural history and opinions of aestheticians. The interpretation of the individual authors and their compositions focuses on the significant characteristics of their compositional techniques and selective analyses of individual compositions. There are sheet samples which help to deal with that.
