Among the effects and papers of Bedřich Antonín Wiedermann (1883–1951) preserved at the Czech Museum of Music in Prague are a score and script for the play ‘Veit Stoss’ by Hermann Heinz Ortner. This play was performed by the Vinohrady Theatre in the hall of the Legiobank in Prague, where a unit organ had been built by the Rieger firm in 1938. The premiere was held on February 1, 1943 in the midst of the German occupation, and 21 performances were held in total. This historical play, by a politically engaged Austrian playwright writing about a late Gothic sculptor and painter working around the year 1520, was among the carefully chosen German-language plays that the Vinohrady Theatre staged alongside Czech plays in those years.
