V originále

V polovině minulého století se začaly v odborných i popularizačních spisech, věnujících se filmové tvorbě, objevovat snahy o zavedení teorie „absolutního tvůrce“ filmových děl. Tímto titulem, pro který se vžilo francouzské označení „auteur“ (= autor), byli označováni zpravidla filmoví režiséři, jejichž tvorba byla jedinečná, inovativní, a v níž měli oni sami hlavní dohled nad klíčovými parametry filmového díla. Později se označení přeneslo v širším slova smyslu i na osobnosti s větším tvůrčím záběrem a další filmové profese, ke kterým se řadí také skladatelé.

In the middle of the last century, efforts to introduce the theory of the "absolute creator" of film works began to appear in professional and popularization writings about filmmaking. This title, which has the French name "auteur" (= author), usually referred to film directors whose work was unique, innovative, and in which they themselves had the main supervision over the key parameters. Later, the designation was transferred in a broader sense to those with a greater creative scope and other film professions, which also include composers.
