In this workshop, during the first session of family therapy I shared experience with therapeutic use of sand-tray. The approach is based on non-interpretative dialogical perspective and is considered very useful, especially when working with psychosomatic patience, with families with a high level of violence or with children whose voice is for some reason difficult to hear. When using sand-tray, four aspects can be pointed out as crucial: slowing down the process, creating a therapeutic alliance, broadening the context of possible perspectives and process-oriented approach, co-constructing the future reality together. The second half of the workshop focused on the use of sand-tray (and other art-therapy techniques) in families with high level of violence, especially on post-divorce families fighting for custody of children. Also a complex one-year program developed in our service with both therapeutic and diagnostic effect was introduced. The international workshop was organized by Valerie O'Brien from the University College Dublin, Ireland on September 28, 2020. 15 participants took attended the event.
