Monografie pojednává o viole, jejím vzniku, výukových metodách a skladbách jí určeným. Tento odborný text nalezne i aplikační uplatnění při studiu na středních a vysokých hudebních školách. Velmi detailně jsou zde zpracované kapitoly popisující tzv. zlatý věk violy, tedy přelom 19. a 20. století - Lionelem Tertisem počínaje a Paulem Hindemithem konče. Důkladně je v této práci také vystižen vznik a vývoj hry na violu v Čechách a na Moravě.

The monograph deals with the viola, its origin, teaching methods and compositions intended for it. This professional text will also find application in studying at secondary music schools and music universities. There are very detailed chapters describing the so-called golden age of the viola, i.e. the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries - starting with Lionel Tertis and ending with Paul Hindemith. This work also thoroughly captures the origin and development of the viola in Bohemia and Moravia.
