Unikátní a svým rozsahem i zpracováním výjimečná publikace přináší výběr z nevýznamnějších exponátů ojedinělé, po více než třicet let budované sbírky loutek a rodinného a spolkového loutkového divadla Marie a Pavla Jiráskových. Ti jako erudovaní znalci historie českého loutkářství doprovodili knihu studií o vývoji českého loutkového divadla a každou fotografii loutky podrobnými texty o jejím původu, zpracování, typologii, včetně jejího uplatnění v divadelním repertoáru. Publikace splňuje jak vysoké nároky odborné veřejnosti, tak je svou čtivou formou a zejména bohatým ilustračním doprovodem přístupná laikům, potažmo všem milovníkům loutkového divadla, a lze ji vnímat jako poctu fenoménu českého marionetového divadla, které je chráněno jako součást nehmotného světového kulturního dědictví UNESCO.

Unique and exceptional in its scope and elaboration, the publication offers a selection of the most important exhibits of the unique collection of puppets and the family and community puppet theatres of Marie and Pavel Jiráskovi built for more than thirty years. They, as knowledgeable experts in the history of Czech puppetry, accompanied the book with study on the development of Czech puppet theater and every photograph of the puppet with detailed texts on its origin, processing, typology, including its use in the theatre repertoire. The publication meets high demands of the professional public as well as laymen and all lovers of puppet theatre who appreciate readability and especially rich illustrations. The publication is a significant tribute to the phenomenon of Czech marionette theatre which is protected as part of the UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage.
