Abstract
Today’s situation in music market creates difficult conditions for artists and music companies – especially due to the fast evolution of new technologies the subjects have to adapt the changes and search for new ways of their sustainability. DIY musicians and micro labels are not only facing the distributing and sales changes but have also a bigger need of being specialized and are limited in professional marketing and management of their portfolio. Labels have to extend their activities to a number of various areas, creating new challenges and new sources of revenues. How have the micro labels been changing their strategies with the beginning of the digital music era and what is actually music label’s function and role in the twenty-first century? Is it creation and distribution or more booking and PR agency? The intention of the intended study “The Evolution of Trends of Micro-Entrerprises’ Strategies in the Recording Industry” is to describe and survey the situation of the recording micro enterprises which have been existing and surviving since the beginning of the digital music distribution.
