Skladatel a konceptualista John Cage patří k nejvýraznějším osobnostem hudby 20. století s přesahem do mnoha jiných oblastí umění. Rozsáhlý výběr z jeho korespondence pod strohým názvem The Selected Letters of John Cage vyšel v roce 2016 a je adekvátní náhradou jeho neexistující autobiografie. Kniha obsahuje přes pět set dopisů od jeho tvůrčích začátků až do konce života.
