Od pozdní renesance se hudební kultura formovala kolem olomouckých biskupů a utvářela se na ose Olomouc – Kroměříž. Centry hudebního dění byla katedrála, jezuitská kolej a některé kláštery. Kromě chrámové hudby se provozovala v 18. století i školská dramata doprovázená hudbou. Významní byli olomoučtí varhanáři.

Since the late Renaissance, the musical culture formed around Olomouc bishops and was formed on the Olomouc axis - Kroměříž. The centers of music were the cathedral, the Jesuit college and some monasteries. In addition to the church music, the school drama accompanied by music was also performed in the 18th century. Significant were the Olomouc organ builders.
