Abstract
Brněnské české divadlo a scénografie přijímalo v období po první světové válce pozvolna impulsy inspirace z tvorby evropských moderních umělců a scénografů a osobitým způsobem si je přizpůsobovalo vlastním potřebám a tvůrčím záměrům. Ve 20. a 30. letech byli přizváni ke spolupráci s brněnským českým divadlem někteří avantgardní tvůrci (Bedřich Feuerstein, František Muzika, František Zelenka, atd.). Bedřich Feuerstein (architekt, grafik, malíř a scénograf) spolupracoval na dvou inscenacích, Wagnerově opeře Tannhäuser a dramatu Defraudanti Valentina Katajeva. Jeho scénografické návrhy přinesly nekonvenční řešení (práce s jevištním prostorem, tendence k divadelnosti a stylizace scénického obrazu).

After the First World War, the Brno Czech theatre and stage design gradually adopted the impulses of inspiration from the production of European progressive artists and stage designers and assimilated them for its own needs and intentions in an original manner. In the 1920s and 1930s some of modern artists (Bedřich Feuerstein, František Muzika, František Zelenka, etc.) were invited to collaboration with the Czech theatre in Brno. Bedřich Feuerstein (an architect, graphic designer, painter, and stage designer), cooperated on two theatre realizations: Richard Wagner’s opera Tannhäuser (22 November, 1922) and a drama Defraudanti by Valentin Katajev (3 June, 1933). His set designs brought unconventional solutions (his work with stage space, tendency to theatricality and stylized scene conception).
