THEATRE AND EDUCATION

Entrance examination for the follow-up master’s degree studies take the form of an interview focused on the submitted materials. Applicants who have studied related bachelor’s degree programmes must demonstrate a good knowledge of theatre and education in an oral examination.

THEATRE AND EDUCATION FOR THE DEAF

The master’s degree programme admits students with a bachelor’s degree in Dramatic Arts from a higher education institution. Applicants who have studied related study programmes must demonstrate knowledge of the field in an oral examination. The entrance examination takes the form of an interview focused on the submitted materials, i.e. on the proposal and annotation of the diploma thesis and the master’s graduation project.

DANCE AND MOVEMENT THEATRE AND EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree graduates of other schools can also apply to the master’s degree studies, but they must demonstrate good knowledge of the field in an oral examination. The examination takes the form of an interview focused on the submitted materials.

The studies take place in a combined form, the courses are taught in regular weekend-long blocks once a month, ten times in an academic year, always from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. Communication with individual students takes place also outside the set dates of consultations and lectures.

    THEATRE AND EDUCATION

    The aim is to create creative personalities with artistic and pedagogical education and practical experience for the needs of basic art education, for the gradual introduction of additional dramatic education in primary schools and drama in grammar schools and for a wide range of leisure activities, especially amateur theatre for all ages, for the area of theatre activities of groups with special needs and for various types of theatre education, both formal and non-formal, including further training of educators. Studies in this field also focus on research into pedagogical use of theatre activities, especially in the field of theatre in education.

    DANCE AND MOVEMENT THEATRE AND EDUCATION

    The aim of the studies is to educate teachers-creators who can not only apply and teach dance or movement techniques, but pursue their independent creative activities. The master’s degree studies deepen and broaden the previous knowledge, seek new creative approaches to the work of teachers-creators and enrich their knowledge of individual dance techniques and movement disciplines from the educational-creative point of view, providing them with understanding of approaches to creation from the dramaturgical-directing point of view. From a theoretical point of view, the aim is to lead the students to independent thought, to explore the issues of teaching dance and movement and to find their own creative approaches. From the point of view of using pedagogical approaches to teach dance, the students are guided to search for the context and regularities of the movement principles and their intersections in individual special dance techniques and under individual conditions. The Dance and Movement Theatre and Education specialisation aims to enable its graduates to study dance and movement from various angles and, in the case of their own work, to rely on the deep knowledge and skills they acquire. Therefore, these graduates able to lead a group of dance and movement theatre, teach dance and movement at art schools or conservatories, teach dance and movement at primary and secondary schools, private dance schools or studios offering dance or movement lessons.

    The master’s degree studies further expand, deepen and improve the previously acquired knowledge. The graduates are able to independently define a complex practical or theoretical problem and solve it in a creative way using selected theories, methods, procedures or forms of the field, including critical reflection – such as designing a curricular document for a specific group or institution. They are able to create an original author’s larger-scale theatrical work with a group of amateurs with a significant creative contribution to the group. The graduates are independent creative personalities able to find employment as teachers at primary schools, grammar schools, primary art schools, secondary pedagogical schools, higher education institutions of artistic and pedagogical specialisation, as theatre lecturers and lecturers in the field of further education of teachers.

    THEATRE AND EDUCATION FOR THE DEAF

    Graduates of the master’s degree studies find employment in the field of education and culture as lecturers of leisure activities; it is becoming apparent that visualisation and personal experience are irreplaceable principles in the teaching of deaf children and youth. They are able to choose and co-create the methodology of the field for the pedagogical process, they are able to convincingly and professionally present to experts and the public professional opinions, critical attitudes and specific approaches in the Czech language, Czech sign language and international sign system. They are the bearers of the Deaf culture and gradually become identifying model worth following.

    In the master’s degree studies, students’ knowledge and skills are further expanded towards an individual approach, either in pedagogical work or in independent work in the field of dance and movement theatre. Therefore, the graduates are capable of independent qualified pedagogical and artistic work. They can independently teach dance and movement education at all levels of primary and secondary education, find employment in the field of leisure activities related to dance and movement theatre, collaborate with creators and director of a specific theatre production, generally emphasise and develop topics related to dance and movement art according to their own perception and feeling.
