THEATRE AND EDUCATION

The admission procedure to the bachelor’s degree studies strive to ascertain the applicants’ significant talent competencies for the chosen specialisation, as well as their intellectual capabilities. The admission procedure takes the form of practical group and individual activities, in which the applicant’s talent, prerequisites for studies, social-communication, creative, pedagogical and direction-dramaturgical abilities are monitored.

THEATRE AND EDUCATION FOR THE DEAF

The entrance examination for the bachelor’s degree studies consists of one round, in which the applicants must prove significant talent and intellectual capabilities, as well as good health and physical dispositions. Furthermore, they must also demonstrate communicative creativity, basic knowledge and understanding of the field of theatre, pedagogy and psychology, as well as insight into the culture of the Deaf, knowledge of sign language or prerequisites for successfully mastering sign language.

DANCE AND MOVEMENT THEATRE AND EDUCATION

There is a two-round selection procedure to be admitted to the three-year bachelor’s studies. In the first round, without the applicant’s participation, his or her proposal for a pedagogical and artistic project and demonstration of proficiency in a foreign language at the level of the Matura or state exam are evaluated. The second round consists of a practical test of dance techniques (classical, modern and folk dance), movement creativity and improvisation skills. This is followed by a test of a general cultural knowledge and an interview focused on the proposed pedagogical and artistic project.

The studies take place in a combined form, the courses are taught in regular weekend-long blocks once a month, ten times in an academic year, always from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. Communication with individual students takes place also outside the set dates of consultations and lectures.

    THEATRE AND EDUCATION

    The aim is to create creative personalities with artistic and pedagogical education and practical experience for the needs of basic art education, for the gradual introduction of additional dramatic education in primary schools and drama in grammar schools and for a wide range of leisure activities, especially amateur theatre for all ages, for the area of theatre activities of groups with special needs and for various types of theatre education, both formal and non-formal, including further training of educators. Studies in this field also focus on research into pedagogical use of theatre activities, especially in the field of theatre in education.

    DANCE AND MOVEMENT THEATRE AND EDUCATION

    The aim of the studies is to educate teachers-creators who can not only apply and teach dance or movement techniques, but pursue their independent creative activities. The master’s degree studies deepen and broaden the previous knowledge, seek new creative approaches to the work of teachers-creators and enrich their knowledge of individual dance techniques and movement disciplines from the educational-creative point of view, providing them with understanding of approaches to creation from the dramaturgical-directing point of view. From a theoretical point of view, the aim is to lead the students to independent thought, to explore the issues of teaching dance and movement and to find their own creative approaches. From the point of view of using pedagogical approaches to teach dance, the students are guided to search for the context and regularities of the movement principles and their intersections in individual special dance techniques and under individual conditions. The Dance and Movement Theatre and Education specialisation aims to enable its graduates to study dance and movement from various angles and, in the case of their own work, to rely on the deep knowledge and skills they acquire. Therefore, these graduates able to lead a group of dance and movement theatre, teach dance and movement at art schools or conservatories, teach dance and movement at primary and secondary schools, private dance schools or studios offering dance or movement lessons.

    THEATRE AND EDUCATION

    Graduates of the bachelor’s degree programme demonstrate a broad knowledge of the theory, history and contemporary practice of dramatic education, theatre and education and amateur theatre. They have basic knowledge in the field of theatre theory, drama theory and the history of Czech and world theatre. They also have basic knowledge of pedagogy and psychology and are familiar with the current curricular documents related to the field. Graduates are able to practically design a theatrical publicly presentable work with a non-professional group as well as with an individual. They can lead the group in the process of creation and in the process of education defined by the FEP for individual levels of education. They independently create an original work of a smaller scale or an interpretive work, they actively and creatively participate in team work and in the process of staging. In professional life, they find employment as leisure teachers or theatre lecturers in professional and amateur theatres.

    THEATRE AND EDUCATION FOR THE DEAF

    Graduates of the bachelor’s degree studies in the Theatre and Education for the Deaf specialisation can work as lecturers of leisure activities in organisations and institutions that focus on art in education, in theatres or in the implementation of their own creative project activities. Graduates also find employment as actors, creators and interpreters of Czech sign language on Czech Television, specifically on the CT Décko channel.

    DANCE AND MOVEMENT THEATRE AND EDUCATION

    Graduates of the bachelor’s degree studies demonstrate a broad knowledge of the theory, history and contemporary practice of dance and movement education as well as of methods, procedures and forms of dance and its individual techniques. They have basic knowledge in the field of theory of dance and movement theatre and the history of Czech and world theatre and dance. They also have basic knowledge of pedagogy and psychology and are familiar with the current curricular documents related to the field. They are sufficiently versed in the field of modern dance and movement education, conducting of amateur dance ensembles and they are equipped with basic evaluation criteria for work in the field that allow them to distinguish important works in the field, taking into account the specifics of the group’s work. They have mastered the teaching of specific dance techniques (classical, modern and folk dance) and demonstrate an individual and creative approach in teaching other movement disciplines. They also know and respect the anatomical and physiological capabilities of a human body and are able to recognise some pathological deviations. Therefore, they are able to lead a dance or movement theatre group.
