Degree programme specification

The bachelor’s degree studies of Theatre Production and Stage Technology admit applicants with good knowledge of and interest in culture, who are well versed in the organisation of the State, regions, municipalities and in the financing of culture. In the case of Stage Technology, they are well versed in this area as well. They are able to think in a logical and systematic manner and have good expression, presentation and communication skills. They are independent, proactive and creative and not afraid to solve problems in creative way. They are keen to organise, cooperate and be part of a wider team. They are interested in their environments, actively seek information (using the information technology skills) and are able to respond flexibly to changing conditions. They are proficient in English at least at the secondary school level and have the right health and physical dispositions for theatre. And, of course, they love the theatre!

  • Objectives

    The studies in this field aim to develop the students’ personalities so that they become well versed in the history and present of theatre and art, understand theatre operations, theatre technology, professional vocabulary (including international) and can use their legal, economic, psychological and sociological knowledge in their professional life. The students should also be able to think about a project and plan it, manage it, communicate about it and evaluate it. And, of course, the students should also learn to think critically and take responsibility for their tasks and the tasks of the creative team’s members.

  • Occupational Profiles of Graduates

    THEATRE PRODUCTION

    Graduates of the bachelor’s degree Theatre Production programme can become cultural project managers (in institutions or agencies), theatre secretaries, festival production managers, marketing managers in theatres or assistants to theatre directors. Alternatively, they can set up and run their own agencies. In addition, graduates of the follow-up master’s degree studies may become directors of theatre or other artistic institutions, heads of marketing departments in theatres or heads of culture-oriented departments in state administration and self-government.

    STAGE MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY

    Graduates of the Stage Management and Technology specialisation can work as stage production managers, heads of artistic and technical operations, stage implementation managers in theatre projects or theatre productions in non-theatre spaces, technical managers of festivals. They can also own and work in various agencies. Furthermore, their professional careers often lead them to positions of lighting and sound technicians, chief lighting technician, chief sound technicians or stage masters.
